Akash Desai is a UK financial protection specialist with over a decade of experience working with business owners, property investors and high-net-worth families. But The Black Box didn't start with a business idea — it started with a family crisis.

"When my dad had a stroke, and later passed away, I watched my family navigate frozen accounts, probate delays, solicitor confusion and document searches — all while grieving. We thought we had things covered. We didn't."
That experience changed everything. Akash spent years in financial services knowing that most families were in exactly the same position — well-intentioned but underprotected, with individual pieces in place but nothing joined up.
He saw clients with wills but no LPAs. Life insurance policies that weren't written in trust. Property portfolios with significant IHT exposure. And almost universally, no central place where the family could find everything they needed when the worst happened.
So he built The Black Box to be what he wished had existed for his own family — a complete, simple and dignified approach to family protection.
